Yinson GreenTech collaborates with Gentari and EVC to provide greater EV charging infrastructure convenience

Yinson GreenTech (YGT), through its subsidiary Green EV Charge Sdn Bhd, has entered into a collaboration agreement together with Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd (GGMOB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gentari Sdn Bhd, and EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC), to collaborate in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The historic collaboration will allow EV users to access 70% or two thirds of charging stations in Malaysia that are owned and operated by three of the country’s leading charge point operators, via their respective mobile application. This will simplify the EV drivers’ search for chargers across the country while improving their overall charging experience.

YGT operates and maintains chargEV – one of the largest EV charging infrastructure and ecosystems in the country. Through this collaboration, chargEV users can cross-track EV chargers operated and maintained by GGMOB and EVC via the chargEV mobile application. Similarly, users of GGMOB and EVC will also be able to find chargEV’s network.

Senior Vice President, Business Development of YGT, Srinivas Tati commented, “YGT is always committed to working with likeminded partners who share our vision of providing a better user experience and accelerating the adoption of EVs. This collaboration is a first step in the infrastructure collaboration with key industry players that will lead to more opportunities and possibilities in the future.”

Chief Green Mobility Officer of Gentari, Shah Yang Razalli said, “To accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia, it is essential to prioritise customer experience. Therefore, by June, users will have the added benefit of cross-access charging, giving access to approximately 70% of all charging points in Malaysia.”

Managing Director of EVC, Ir Lee Yuen How added, “Our fingers are always on the pulse of consumers’ needs and we are taking the initiative by coming together to make your life simpler. Via this tri-network partnership, we give greater range confidence to users when driving in Malaysia, as they can locate the entire charging network of the three service providers via Setel, JomCharge or chargEV.”

The exchange of documents was held during Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2023, organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
